Four Poems on Julius Caesar I  II  III  IV

Man

Oh what a

Man

He was

And is not

But still

If only

I could have

Seen you

Spoken with you

Watched as your

Eyes moved across

From shore to shore

From insecurity

To infamy

Was is really such a

Long way

Across

Or was the longest part

All in your mind?

What if you

Had not

But had turned

Around

Put up your spear

And headed home

Alone

Would the tree have stood?

A crack in the stairs

That you tried

To repair

But the foundation

Was set

And you were too

Late

To start again

Try

Though you

Might

And yet

That’s where the

Trouble lies

Oh what’s behind

Those eyes!?

And what did you feel

With the first thrust

Of steel

And the cold iron

Glance

The touch of friends’

Hands

In an embrace

That carries you

Away
